SD4 SOFTWARE UPGRADE 1.25

SOFTWARE UPDATE VIA USB CABLE

1) Download the program installation package "SD4Update" required to update and install the program on the computer.
2) Download the two self-decompression files SD4_113.EXE and SD4_125.EXE and execute them to extract the two files SD41_13.BIN and SD41_25.BIN.
3) Connect the SD4 instrument to the PC via the USB cable, holding keys 1 ad 3 down (do not use the feeder): the LEDs of the display will start to rotate to point out that the software installation procedure is starting.
4) Start the SD4Update program on the computer.
5) Click on Open and select the SD41_13.BIN file (When you open the file, the software version will appear, which in this case will be 1.13)
6) Press Program to start the update procedure.
ATTENTION: Do not turn the PC or the SD4 instrument off during this procedure!!
7) Wait for "Write complete" to appear on the monitor that points out that the installation procedure is complete.
8) Close the SD4Update program and disconnect the USB cable to switch the SD4 instrument off.
9) Repeat the procedures from point 3 to point 8, but using the SD41_25.BIN file related to version 1.25.

Once these software update procedures are complete, if you hold key 0 down when turning on, the version installed will appear on the display, which should be 1.25.

NB.: This installation procedure differs from what is written in the instruction manual, because this first update is to be repeated twice: the first time, to install the preliminary version 1.13 that prepares the memory to accept the second installation of version 1.25.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN RELEASE 1.0 AND 1.25

New implementations:

1. We have added the option to select a GM voice in edit mode using the numerical keypad.
Select “Edit Mode” and the GM voice to be edited, holding down the LEAD OFF key.
In this way, you can enter the number of the GM voice to be used directly. You can also move by 50 in 50, holding the LEAD OFF key down, using keys + and -. The complete list of GM voices is available in appendix A of the manual supplied with the instrument.

2. We have added the option to dump the machine on PC.
You can now run a complete back-up of the machine via the computer program SD4Editor.EXE (the program installation package can be downloaded here ).
The dump function of the system creates a copy of all the presets and users so that they can be restored if necessary.
To run the dump function, simply connect the SD4 instrument to the computer via the USB cable, open SD4Editor and click on Dump, in the top left corner.
Click on “Transmit” to send a previously saved dump from the computer to the SD4 instrument and on “Receive” to receive the dump from the SD4 instrument and to save it on the disc of the computer. In both cases, a communication window will appear so that you can choose the file to be transmitted in the case of “Transmit” or the file to be created in the case of “Receive”.

3. We have added the option to execute the dump directly from one SD4 instrument to another.
Connect the source SD4 instrument to the target SD4 instrument via the MIDI OUT and MIDI IN1 ports.
Switch both on using the feeder; do not connect the USB.
Access the midi menu and press 0.
The display will start to blink and when it goes back to its normal condition, it means that the procedure has ended.

4. We have added the option to control the users via the MIDI
You can now select the users via the MIDI IN2 port (Voice).
Simply send the request of bank 9 and the instrument will switch to USER mode, just as if you had physically pressed the user key; from here onwards, all the program changes that you send will refer to the users. To exit USER mode, simply select a different bank to bank 9.
This function can not be used in 2xMIDI mode.

5. Resolution of some bugs

UPDATE DER SOFTWARE ÜBER USB-KABEL

ACHTUNG: Weder den PC noch das SD4 während des Vorgangs ausschalten!

7. Warten Sie ab, bis die Meldung "Write complete" am Bildschirm angezeigt wird, denn damit ist der Installationsvorgang abgeschlossen.

8. Beenden Sie nun das SD4Update-Programm, und ziehen Sie das USB-Kabel ab, um das SD4 auszuschalten.

9. Wiederholen Sie anschließend die Schritte 3 bis 8, diesmal mit der Datei SD41_25.BIN, die für die Version 1.25 erstellt wurde.

Nach dem Software-Update wird, wenn Sie beim Einschalten des Geräts die Taste 0 drücken, am Display die installierte Version angezeigt, die nunmehr 1.25 sein muss.

NB: Dieser Installationsvorgang unterscheidet sich von dem in der Betriebsanleitung beschriebenen insofern, als dieses Update zweimal zu wiederholen ist: das erste Mal zur Installation der Version 1.13, die den Speicher entsprechend vorbereitet, das zweite Mal, um die Version 1.25 zu installieren.

UNTERSCHIEDE ZWISCHEN RELEASE 1.0 UND 1.25

Neuimplementierungen:

1. Wahl eines GM-Sounds im Edit Mode über die Zifferntasten
Wählen Sie "Edit Mode" und den GM-Sound, den Sie bearbeiten möchten, indem Sie die Taste LEAD OFF gedrückt halten.
Auf diese Weise ist es möglich, die Nummer des GM-Sounds, der editiert werden soll, direkt einzugeben.
Vorausgesetzt die LEAD OFF-Taste bleibt gedrückt, ist es auch möglich, sich mit den Tasten +/- durch die Sounds jeweils in 50er-Gruppen zu bewegen.

2. Datenbankauszug vom Gerät auf Ihren PC
Nun ist es möglich, über das Computerprogramm SD4Editor.EXE (das Installationspaket können Sie hier hier downloaden) ein komplettes Backup ihres Geräts vorzunehmen.
Der Systemdump erstellt eine Kopie aller Presets und Users, sodass sie im Bedarfsfall wieder hergestellt werden können.
Zur Ausführung des Datenbankauszugs schließen das SD4 mit einem USB-Kabel an Ihren Computer an, öffnen den SD4Editor und klicken auf Dump oben links.
Klicken Sie nun auf "Transmit", um einen zuvor am Computer gespeicherten Auszug dem SD4 zu senden oder auf "Receive", um den Auszug vom SD4 zu empfangen und auf der Festplatte des Computers zu sichern. In beiden Fällen wird ein Dialogfenster geöffnet, in dem Sie die bei "Transmit" zu übertragende Datei und die bei "Receive" zu erstellende Datei auswählen können.

3. Datenbankauszug direkt von einem SD4 auf ein anderes
Verbinden Sie das Quell-SD4 mit dem Ziel-SD4 über die MIDI OUT- und MIDI IN 1- Anschlüsse.
Schalten Sie beide Geräte unter Einsatz des Netzgeräts ein, schließen Sie jedoch kein USB- Kabel an.
Öffnen Sie das Midi-Menü, und drücken Sie 0.
Das Display beginnt zu blinken; wenn die Displayanzeige wieder normal ist, ist der Vorgang abgeschlossen.

4. Steuerung der Users über MIDI
Nun ist es möglich, die Users über den MIDI IN2 (Voice)-Port zu steuern.
Rufen Sie lediglich die Bank 9 auf, und das Gerät wird automatisch in den USER- Modus versetzt, so als ob Sie die User-Taste betätigt hätten; sämtliche Program Changes, die Sie nun vornehmen, beziehen sich auf die Users.
Um den USER-Modus zu verlassen, wählen Sie eine andere als die Bank 9.
Diese Funktion ist im 2xMIDI-Modus nicht aktivierbar.

5. Lösung von einigen Softwarefehlern
